READ: Heart Evangelista's reply to a netizen who assumed her pregnancy is through IVF

By Bea Rodriguez

Mommy-to-be Heart Evangelista recently announced that she and husband Chiz Escudero are having a baby. The happy news was well-celebrated last Mother’s Day, May 13.

Days after, the Kapuso star revealed she was carrying twins, but unfortunately, she lost one of them. The actress suffered from Vanishing Twin Syndrome, a condition which occurs “when a twin or multiple disappears in the uterus during pregnancy as a result of a miscarriage of one twin or multiple.” (americanpregnancy.org)

According to huggies.com.au, women over 30 are more likely to suffer from this, and it happens to about 21-30% of multiple pregnancies.

A netizen assumed that Heart conceived through IVF (In Vitro Fertilization), “a process of fertilization by extracting eggs, retrieving a sperm sample, and then manually combining an egg and sperm in a laboratory dish. The embryo(s) is then transferred to the uterus.” (americanpregnancy.org)

But, the soon-to-be mom noted, “I got pregnant after 3 months of trying naturally. [IT WAS] NOT IVF.”
