LOOK: Catriona Gray's first selfie as Miss Universe

By Cara Emmeline Garcia

It was exactly a year ago today, December 17, when Catriona Gray was hailed Miss Universe 2018 but for the beauty queen it still feels like the moment was a big blur.

On Instagram, the former Miss Universe reminisced her crowning moment and even shared her very first selfie upon getting the coveted Mikimoto crown.

She captioned, “A year ago today… a moment happened that changed my life forever.

“Forever thankful to everyone who built me up, cheered me on, prayed for me, and supported me.”

Like a true queen, Catriona even shared a few snippets of wisdom to her followers.

“It was this moment that proved to me that faith does conquer fear. That taking a risk in the pursuit of a dream can sometimes give you an even greater gift than you ever could dream of. And all those times I thought I'd been denied before, were really the universe redirecting me to something more,” she concluded.

Last December 8, 2019, Catriona crowned Zozibini Tunzi of South Africa as her successor at the 2019 Miss Universe competition at Tyler Perry Studios, in Atlanta, Georgia.

While doing her final walk as queen, Gray described her reign as “unforgettable, life-changing, and purposeful.”
