'Money Heist' Season 4 release date and all the details (so far)

By Cara Emmeline Garcia

After its explosive season three finish, Spanish series Money Heist will soon be coming to your screens for its fourth season.

In a released trailer last March 5, the series gave us our first look at what we can expect during the new season.

The trailer features Tokyo narrating that the Professor has lost his mind and that Inspector Raquel will be offered a chance to get her old life back.

We also get a lot of action scenes suggesting the series will be jam-packed with action and suspense.

Soon after, the official poster for season 4 was released on the series's official Twitter account.

Money Heist Season 4 details

Before we dive into what to expect, the Netflix original series will be released globally on April 3rd, 2020.

This was confirmed by Money Heist television producer Alex Pina that filming and production directly followed season 3 which wrapped up in early 2018.

Filming for Season 4 was then wrapped around August 2019 as confirmed by actor Alva Morte who plays the Professor in the series.

So what will we expect? For those who haven't watched Season 3, spoilers ahead.

In the last season, we see the band back together again to perform an even bigger heist than the first one. However, the plan turned into a ruse as they tried to rescue Rio from the authorities.

Fast forward a couple of episodes and we see a new inspector named Alicia Sierra who wants to bring them all in at her stake.

Because of this, the Professor calls for a DEFCON2 on the police. It then concluded with Tokyo narrating that the Professor had fallen for his trap and that the “war has begun.”

With the trailer upon us, we can expect to hopefully see the inevitable escape or the demise of the crew.

In terms of the tone, the creators of the show have validated that the upcoming episodes will be different from the first three.

In an interview with EstiloDF, Alex Pina and Javier Gomez Santander explained that the next season will be a “bombshell for many reasons.”

They said, “We came from the third season with a feeling of vertigo because it was the first one we produced for Netflix. We had used up the first robbery and we had to show that we could design a new one with more adrenaline and strength.

“In the fourth season, we proposed to stop a little and lower the piston to be able to dramatically savor some characters and then return to hit a burst in the middle of the season.

“It is going to be a special one.”

Who's ready for Season 4? Catch Money Heist on Netflix starting April 3.
