Senior Italian Cardinal Angelo de Donatis who is part of Pope Francis' papal vicar for Rome has tested positive for the COVID-19.
Cardinal Angelo de Donatis has tested positive for the coronavirus on Monday, March 30.
He is the highest-ranking Catholic official who has tested positive for the disease.

According to reports from GMA News, De Donatis' office stated the Cardinal was tested for the virus after feeling unwell and then admitted to a Rome hospital. His close aides have gone into quarantine after the Cardinal's diagnosis.
The 66-year-old Cardinal has no known recent personal contact with Pope Francis. The Vatican also claimed on March 28 that Pope Francis and his close aids do not have the virus.
As of March 31, Italy has over 100,000 confirmed cases of the coronavirus with 11,591 deaths and 14,620 recoveries.
