COVID-19 nurses in Iloilo wear Teletubbies-inspired PPE

By Bianca Geli

Self-taught designer and nurse Adrian Pe wasn't planning on channeling the '90s cartoon characters of Teletubbies when he was creating Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

When Adrian ended up having a roll of purple, green, and yellow fabric to work on for new protective coats, something came to his mind. "Then I realized I was only lacking the red to complete the Teletubbies characters," he told GMA News Online.

Adrian said he and his fellow frontliners at The Medical City are in need of some motivation in fighting the COVID-19.

"I then saw the silver lining in it, and posted the photos on social media," Adrian said.

Suddenly, Adrian and his team felt more like a team somehow because of support from netizens on social media. "I am overwhelmed to see positive feedbacks and I'm more motivated with this cause. They are very supportive... I really believe that we make a good team."

He also added that aside from giving to their hospital, he and his colleagues are also giving away PPEs for COVID-19 centers.

Other doctors, fashion designers, and volunteers have also helped make PPE alternatives. The Office of the Vice President has started the mass production of the first medically-reviewed PPE suit, designed by Mich Dulce.
