QC government warns violators of Anti-COVID-19 discrimination ordinance will be punished
The Quezon City (QC) government warns the public not to discriminate against the overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) currently undergoing mandatory quarantine - and also people who are either suspected or confirmed to have the Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) -- or else, they will be penalized.

There are almost 1,000 OFWs who are observing the compulsory 14-day quarantine and are staying in three hotels in Quezon City.
Several others were billeted by their recruitment agencies in other cities in Metro Manila.
In an interview with Saleema Refran in 24 Oras, QC Tourism Board Member Teresa Tirona assured the public that the OFWs who returned to the Philippines have all tested negative of COVID-19 before they were allowed to travel back to the country.

On April 6, QC Mayor Joy Belmonte signed Executive Order No. 26, that punishes those who will discriminate persons infected or suspected of having COVID-19 and members of their households.
The order also protects health and emergency workers, as well as their families, from any act of discrimination.
“Discrimination has no place in our city, especially during this time of crisis. We must put a stop to this once and for all,” said Belmonte.
According to the Anti-Discrimination Ordinance, depending on the gravity of the offense, violators can be imprisoned for six months or pay a penalty of 20,000 pesos.
