Vico Sotto and late Yaya Emy

Vico Sotto pays tribute to his late Yaya Emy as she celebrates her 61st birthday yesterday.

Despite his hectic schedule as mayor of Pasig City, Vico Sotto never fails to pay homage to the woman who has helped raise him to be the man he is today -- Yaya Emelinda “Emy” Flores.

Yesterday, June 23, Vico reposted a childhood photo of him being carried by Yaya Emy in Hong Kong with the words, “Happy Birthday.”

The photo is linked to Vico's original post made on September 18, 2016 -- the day Yaya Emy died in her hometown in South Cotabato.

In it he wrote a touching tribute to the household helper and shared the many hats she's worn over the years including being a “messenger, bodyguard, personal assistant, resident comedian, all-around repairman, kargador with rock hard muscles (seriously), with a tender heart.”

Adding, “[She] never showed much emotion, but a pillar we all leaned on;

“She quietly celebrated with us in all our triumphs but was equally there in our moments of despair.

“My alarm clock until I was twenty-six, the one who made sure the back of my shirt was tucked in for every important occasion.

“A superhuman who pushed through the fatigue, illness, and pain; Always going above and beyond the call of duty.”

He said, “Thank you, Emy, for the four decades of selfless love you gave to Mama, Kuya LA, Ate Carla, and myself;

“Emy, I love you more than I ever let you know. We will miss you dearly.”
