Google Maps to launch virtual pride march on June 27

There's no stopping the solidarity among the LGBTQ+ community this Pride Month as Google Maps gears up for its first online Pride March Parade this June 27.

Google Maps is collaborating for a project with tech companies' group Pride@Tech in creating “Pride March From Home: United for Covid Relief”

Due to the restrictions brought about by the coronavirus pandemic, Google Maps will enable people to continue showing gender equality and compassion for the yearly traditions of Pride March from the safety of everyone's home. while staying safe at home.

To register for the virtual Pride March on June 27, Saturday at 3:00PM, log onto marchforpride.com and create a virtual march route.

You can nominate any local destination and pick a rainbow color for your route line. A caption is also needed to make the entry count.

Registrants can share on social media, march again, or donate. All funds will go to LGBTQ+ communities affected by the coronavirus.

“We believe in the power of technology like Google Maps in bringing possibilities," said Marv Echipare, Co-founder of Pride@Tech and Product Support Strategy Manager at Google in a press release.

He added, "The virtual Pride March this year not only continues to show the resilience of the LGBTQ+ community but the helpfulness of the digital space to further unite people for a cause wherever they are in the world."
