Katy Perry shares post-pregnancy selfie days after giving birth

In case you missed it, the 2020 MTV Video Music Awards happened last Monday (Philippine Time) with plenty of stars celebrating in their homes amid the coronavirus pandemic.

This included Katy Perry, who collectively took home five awards at previous VMAs.

However this year, the awards night fell four short days after Katy gave birth to her beautiful baby daughter, Daisy Dove.

So it's no surprise that Katy's VMA look was a little different from what her fans are used to seeing her in.

On her Instagram Story, the singer was seen wearing her nursing bra and postpartum underwear, and credited her hair and makeup to “exhaustion.”

In a world where women are encouraged to return to their pre-baby figures, the 35-year-old's selfie was a refreshingly honest take on the issue.

It was on August 27 when Katy and fiance Orlando Bloom announced that they are both “floating with love” following Daisy's birth.

As goodwill ambassadors for the United Nations Children Fund (UNICEF), the two set up a donation page to raise money for new mothers and their children.

They said, “We know we're the lucky ones and not everyone can have a birthing experience as peaceful as ours was. Communities around the world are still experiencing a shortage of healthcare workers and every eleven seconds a pregnant woman or newborn dies, mostly from preventable causes.

“Since COVID-19, many more newborn lives are at risk because of a greater lack of access to water, soap, vaccines, and medicines that prevent diseases. As parents to a newborn, this breaks our hearts, as we empathize with struggling parents now more than ever."

Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom announced their engagement on Valentine's Day last year.
