Lovi is a certified sweetheart in the eyes of iGMA. She’s one of the most amiable, fun-loving, and responsible gals in showbiz today. In a ten-minute interview, Lovi talked about what’s been on her mind – from balancing school and showbiz to beauty secrets that keep her a-blooming! Text by Jillian Q. Gatcheco. She’s one sporty gal! Did you know that Lovi used to be a cheerdancer? “I used to do gymnastics,” she says. Lovi got into cheerleading in fifth grade and took up gymnastics because it was a prerequisite to be on the team. But due to her hectic schedule, Lovi had to quit dancing and prioritize other things. When asked if she had always loved dancing, Lovi replied, “I never wanted dancing before, but my teacher forced me, and since then, I’ve loved dancing.” It’s a good thing her teacher pushed her to try out, because dancing would perfectly complement her angel-like voice! The beach babe in her “If I had the chance, I’d go to the beach right now with my friends!” Although she’s a beach lover, Lovi isn’t one who would party all night or go bar-hopping with her friends. Instead, she’d rather go to a quiet place and spend some quality bonding time with loved ones. “I really love it (in the beach). Actually, just a cozy place, not a party area. I’m not much of a party girl. Only sometimes, if I have to go out, but (I’d prefer) a relaxing place.” That’s probably what Lovi really needs nowadays, especially with her busy academic and showbiz schedule. She shares that she brings a tutor with her on shoots, and if there’s a chance, she attends regular school. Although she couldn’t attend school on a daily basis at the Colegio de San Agustin (CSA), CSA just gives her all the homework, books to read, and miscellaneous academic requirements. “As long as I pass, (they’re letting me take days off). So far naman, (I’m doing okay).” School life As a high school senior, Lovi’s at a stage where bonding with her girlfriends is high priority, especially since they’ll be graduating soon. “(We talk about) anything under the sun, actually. My friends and I…We talk about anything! We’re open from anywhere to anywhere, to whatever extent!” And of course, there’s the inevitable topic among girls’ conversations: Boys. “I want someone who’s simple, very responsible, (and) very gentleman-like,” shares Lovi with a smile. But beware, boys, Lovi’s standards can get quite high: “(I liked) Brad Pitt before…Well, (it) doesn’t really matter, pero hilig ko talaga, moreno. But then, there are times na mestizo din.” Beauty 101 “Before, I loved putting makeup, when I wasn’t acting or singing…Lagi akong naka-concealer. Kikay (na) kikay! But when I started this business, ayoko na. Parang napagod na ako. I don’t put makeup, even though I go out sa malls.” Lovi says that maybe you wouldn’t even recognize her in case you see her outside, because she really doesn’t wear makeup at all! When it comes to fashion, Lovi’s into contact lens and big glasses right now. “You know the shop Evita Peron? In Glorietta? ‘Yung mga clips…shades…etc.? (I’m into big glasses) para ma-cover ‘yung eye bags!” Lovi jokes. When asked to describe her fashion sense, this pretty girl replies, “I want something simple but elegant. Then I complement it with a different color.” For her long locks, Lovi says that she never had them curled. “‘Yung sa akin kasi, it’s straight hair, and then curly down. Nilalagyan lang ng volume (for shoots and TV appearances).” For her hair care, she regularly goes to Tony & Guy Salon. “I recommend that parlor!” she shares. Can’t get enough of Lovi?
