Kapuso actress Ysabel Ortega may as well add the title CEO to her name as she introduces her family's new business venture outside the showbiz industry -- owning a poultry farm and lemon plantation.

In her latest vlog on her YouTube channel, the young actress-slash-entrepreneur gave her fans a glimpse of her family's land in the province of La Union.

In the 30-minute clip, Ysabel said that they've been planning to put up the poultry farm and lemon plantation business since the past years but only decided to act on it during the start of the quarantine period.

“We started planting muna lemon trees and growing chickens,” she said.

“I wanted to make this vlog because I wanted to give you guys a glimpse of what I've been doing every day. Staying here [in La Union] during the quarantine, mas lalo namin natutukan 'yung businesses, especially 'yung broiler house.”

If you are wondering why their family decided to plant lemon trees, Ysabel explained that they consulted with an agronomist who advised that the soil is perfect for growing citrus fruits.

“We consulted with an agronomist, and he said that 'yung soil namin, in our land, is perfect for growing citrus fruits. So we decided na dapat lemons ang i-grow namin,” she said.

“Sino ba ang hindi may gusto sa lemons? You can use it for anything -- for baking, cooking, for everything! I love lemons! It takes two to four years before it starts bearing fruit.”

All in all, Ysabel's staff has planted over 3,000 lemon trees and will be adding more other types of fruit, including coconut and pomelo.

Meanwhile, the other half of Ysabel's business, the poultry farm, will house over 45,000 meat-type chickens that will be sold to fast food restaurants for consumption.

“It will take 30 days for them to grow, and then after that, we need 15 days to clean, sanitize, and reset the whole broiler house just in time for the new cycle of chicks to make sure na top-notch 'yung facility namin when it comes to bringing the chicks in,” she added.

“If you compute, we will have a total of seven to eight cycles of harvest every year, so that's a lot of chickens.”

Throughout the video, fans can see Ysabel being very hands-on and knowledgeable when it comes to her new venture.

“I really want to show you guys what we've been working on for years, and ngayon, it's finally coming to reality. I'm really excited to show you guys more the other side of me, the other side of Ysabel,” she ended the video.
