Disney is looking for a Filipino lola for an upcoming film

By Racquel Quieta

You know how they say that it's never too late to make your dreams come true?

That just might happen for you this 2021 if you're a Filipino lola living in the U.S. because the casting team of an upcoming Walt Disney Studios film is currently looking for a Filipino or Filipino-American to be part of its cast.

Casting Director Sarah Finn and her team are currently looking for a lola to play a role in an upcoming Disney film.

They're specifically looking for a Filipino or Filipino American female aged 50 to 90 years old, who speaks fluent English and comfortable traveling on a plane to Atlanta, as that's where the filming location is.

The lola must also be authorized to work in the United States (either a US citizen, a green card holder, or an O-1 visa holder).

No professional acting experience is required, so basically any lola from any profession can apply.

The chosen lola will be shooting for a few days in mid-February 2021 in Atlanta, Georgia.

So, how can you get the role in this upcoming Disney film?

All you need to do is record a short video introducing yourself and sharing a story about your family or your favorite activity.

You can speak in English, Filipino, Tagalog, or any other language spoken in the Philippines while telling your story, but your self-introduction should be in English.

Once you're done recording, you can send the video to LolaSubmissions@sarahfinnco.com

The casting team will be reviewing videos in January and will send an email to anyone that they'd like to invite to audition for the role.

The title of the Disney movie that they are casting for was not disclosed in the announcement.

But based on reports published last December, the movie Spider-man 3 is now filming and casting in Atlanta.

Plus, the fact that Filipino-American actor Jacob Batalon plays Peter Parker's best friend Ned Leeds in the Spider-man film series makes it even more likely that they're casting a Filipino lola for the said movie.

No one knows for sure at the moment. But one thing is for sure, one Filipino lola will soon have her shining moment in the silver screen--in a Disney film, no less!

So, good luck to all the lolas who will be vying for the role. We're excited to see another Filipino actor in a Disney film soon.
