Aiai delas Alas congratulates Nova Villa for receiving Papal Award
Another Filipino actress conferred the Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice (For the church and the Pope) Papal Award yesterday, and it's none other than veteran actress and Pepito Manaloto star Nova Villa.
On Instagram, fellow Papal awardee Aiai delas Alas congratulated the 73-year-old actress for receiving the highest honor bestowed to a laity by the Pope.
She said in the caption, “Congratulations, Tita Nova Villa, for your Papal award!
“The Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice is awarded to those who, in general, deserves well of the Pope on account of service done for the Church and its head.
“We are very happy and rejoicing with you (my co-Papal awardee).
“Thank you for spreading God's goodness and mercy. To God be the Glory, always and forever.”
Along with the post is a slide show of Nova Villa's awarding that was witnessed by the Queen of Comedy herself.
In the comment section, fans praised the two comediennes for using their platform and influence for evangelizing the Word of God.
One fan said, “Congratulations, Ms. Ai. You and Tita Nova deserve the Papal Award. You are gifts to the church. Sana maraming artista ang mga katulad ninyo. Kayo ang mga tunay na idolo.”
Another commended, “You are gifts to the Catholic Church. Continue to serve the Lord with gladness po. Congratulations on being a Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice Papal Awardee.
Back in 2016, Aiai delas Alas received the Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice Papal Award through the recommendation of the Diocese of Novaliches, headed by Bishop Antonio Tobias.
Her ceremony was held at the Cathedral of the Good Shepherd in Quezon City during her 51st birthday.
According to reports, the church recognized Aiai's distinguished services, including her involvement in the construction of the Kristong Hari Church in Commonwealth Avenue, the Anawim Lay Missions Foundations Inc. in Montalban, and other charitable works.
She said in an interview, “Hindi ko alam kung ano'ng mararamdaman ko kasi sa dami ng nilalang sa mundo, bakit ako? Worthy ba ako? Pero siyempre, susunod lang ako. Kung ano 'yung plano ni Lord for me, doon tayo.
“'Yun 'yung talagangn gusto ko noon pa -- magkaroon naman ng kasaysayan ang mundo ko. Kapag humarap ako kay Lord, ano bang na-contribute ko bukod sa pagpapatawa sa buong Pilipinas? Masasabi ko na na naka-contribute naman ako sa iba Niyang anak at iba pa Niyang projects.”
