Gabbi Garcia helps organize community pantry in Parañaque City

By Bianca Geli

Gabbi Garcia is paying her blessings forward and keeping the spirit of volunteerism alive by helping set up a community pantry in her neighborhood.

This came after community pantries or carts and tables filled with packed food items, fresh produce, and basic necessities for people in need started sprouting up in different parts of the country.

The In Real Life host wrote on Instagram, "Posting this with nothing but pure and good intentions 🤍 this is to inspire everyone that despite of the situation, we can all help each other in our own little way. 🙏🏼

She continued, "Thank you to our small community for making this possible! Thank you also to everyone who stopped by to drop their donations. May God Bless you more!"

"To all the community pantries, SALAMAT SA INYO! Keep going! God bless your pure hearts! Tayo tayo ang magtulungan."

Gabbi and her parents, Tesa and Vince Lopez helped in organizing the community pantry initiative with their neighborhood through the BF Northwest Homeowners Association Inc.

Many other community pantries have been popping up in Manila to help Filipinos affected by the lockdown.

The first community pantry that garnered online attention is from Maginhawa Community Pantry, started by 26-year-old Ana Patricia Non.

Since then, various community pantries have emerged including ones in Laguna, Manila, Muntinlupa, Parañaque, and Quezon.

The community pantry started to help people whose jobs and livelihood have been directly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
