Former President Joseph “Erap” Ejercito Estrada received a warm homecoming after nearly a month of being confined in the hospital since testing positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

In a Facebook post by Jinggoy Estrada, the former senator said that their family is overjoyed to share that their father will finally return home.

“Our family is overjoyed to announce that our father will finally be discharged from the hospital today,” Jinggoy wrote on Monday, April 26.

“We would like to express our gratitude to his doctors for their expertise and care. We would like to thank everyone who prayed with us and supported us through this harrowing experience. But, most of all, we would like to thank our Lord Almighty for His love and guidance through all of this.”

Nearly five hours later, Jinggoy posted another photo of the former president in their home while being welcomed by his children, grandchildren, and wife, Loi Estrada.

The family even created a poster that said, “Welcome home, Daddy!”

The 83-year-old former chief executive was rushed to the hospital on March 28 after exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19.

Days later, Erap Estrada was placed on a ventilator due to his worsening pneumonia but recovered days later.

On April 13, the former president tested negative for the coronavirus but was later brought to the intensive care unit after doctors found a bacterial infection on his lung.

During his stint at the hospital, Joseph Estrada became a victim of a death hoax but was later lambasted by his sons. Check out the other celebrities and personalities who denied these false claims in this gallery:
