By Racquel Quieta

After her shocking and revelation about a past sexual assault, it seems like a rainbow has shown up after the rain as Lady Gaga celebrates a decade of "Born This Way" with a holiday declaration, an awesome mural, and a key to the city.

On May 23, 2011, Lady Gaga released her second studio album Born This Way, which later on became one of her most iconic albums with its title track becoming an anthem for the members of the LGBTQIA+ community.

Fast-forward to 10 years later and the milestone anniversary of Lady Gaga's album is celebrated with the declaration of “Born This Way Day.”

West Hollywood Mayor Lindsey Horvath has officially declared May 23 as “Born This Way Day,” recognizing its great cultural impact.

Mayor Horvath also awarded Lady Gaga with the key to the city, a tradition done to honor esteemed visitors and residents.

The key is said to symbolize the freedom to enter and leave the city at will, which means the recipient is considered a trusted friend of the city and its residents.

The big day of the global superstar was also celebrated with a massive mural on Robertson Blvd., which says “Born This Way.”

It is a tribute to both Lady Gaga's album and the LGBTQIA+ community.

The declaration “Born This Way Day” couldn't be more perfect as it comes a day after the Harvey Milk Day, which marks the beginning of Pride Season in West Hollywood.

In her Instagram post, Lady Gaga paid tribute to the inspiration behind “Born This Way.”

Her IG post reads, “Born This Way, my song and album, were inspired by Carl Bean, a gay black religious activist who preached, sung and wrote about being 'Born This Way.'”

“Notably his early work was in 1975, 11 years before I was born.

“Thank you for decades of relentless love, bravery, and a reason to sing.

“So we can all feel joy, because we deserve joy.

“Because we deserve the right to inspire tolerance, acceptance, and freedom for all.”

Congratulations, Lady Gaga! And Happy Born This Way Day to all the Little Monsters.
