The Roadrunner documentary about the late celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain is here and it gives a glimpse of his life behind the camera.

The trailer for the Roadrunner documentary has been released and it gives viewers a look at the life of the late world-renowned chef and travel documentarist, Anthony Bourdain, behind-the-scenes.

It's been almost three years to the date since everyone was shocked with the sudden death of Anthony, who sadly took his own life on June 8, 2018.

The celebrity chef, author, and TV personality has since left a lasting legacy in food, culture and travel.

Anthony first rose to fame with his best-selling book Kitchen Confidential: Adventures in the Culinary Underbelly, which was published in 2000.

But it was his foray into hosting travel and food-themed TV shows like A Cook's Tour, No Reservations, The Layover, and Parts Unknown that catapulted him to his superstar chef status.

In his shows, Anthony traveled the world not only to explore the food that each country has to offer, but more importantly, to immerse himself in their culture.

In the Roadrunner documentary, fans and followers of Anthony will get to see intimate, behind-the-scenes footages from his travels while filming for his shows.

There are also interviews with Anthony's close pals, including Chef Eric Ripert and Chef David Chang.

Some of them described Anthony's journey as something that “was almost never about food” and was actually about “totally learning how to be a better person.”

One of them talked about how committed Anthony was to his endeavors.

“When he threw himself into something, he threw himself completely.”

Some of Anthony's female friends described him as “a traditional romantic” and that “reality was never gonna live up to exactly how he pictured it.”

There were also other telling revelations made by some of those closest to Anthony.

“He was always rushing to get into the scene. He was rushing to get out of the scene…to go somewhere next, even if he had nowhere to go.”

One interviewee also said, “He was definitely searching for something.”

Some of them also talked about being successful yet unhappy, and how Anthony must have had a hard time reaching out for help.

The Roadrunner documentary was directed by 2014 Academy Award-winner, Morgan Neville, who also worked on '20 Feet From Stardom,' which depicted the life of backup singers.

Roadrunner is set to premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival on June 11 and will be released in theaters in the United States on July 16.

After its theatrical release, it will also be aired on CNN and HBO Max at a later date, which is yet to be announced.
