Manny Pacquiao drops first-ever NFT collection

By Racquel Quieta

One week before Manny Pacquiao's fight against Olympian Yordenis Ugas, the eight-division world champion released his first-ever non-fungible token (NFT) collection on Ethernity Chain.

The Manny Pacquiao NFT collection dropped on Saturday, August 14, on Ethernity Chain's website.

An up-close and highly realistic 1 of 1 moving portrait of Pacquiao was auctioned as part of the NFT collection.

It was created by the Los Angeles-based visual effects artist and motion graphics designer, Kenson Lee a.k.a. Rikognition.

The said moving portrait is named after Pacquiao's popular nickname “PacMan,” and is described by artist Rikognition as aiming to “transmit the essence of Pacquiao as a person who overcame incredible odds but never lost his spirit and heart.”

Rikognition also added that the piece is inspired by PacMan's career, “in which a moment in time can feel both fleeting yet lasting an eternity.”

Also part of the NFT collection are Ethernity's Manny Pacquiao collectible card series that are classified as “Legendary,” “Epic,” and “Common” editions.

Plus, there's also the “PacMan Belt,” a hyperrealistic championship belt NFT, which honors Pacquiao's legacy as an eight-division world boxing champion.

The lucky winner of the auctioned 1 of 1 moving portrait by Rikognition also won other awesome real-world collectibles, including two tickets to the Pacquiao vs.Ugas fight in Las Vegas, a meet-and-greet and photo op with Pacquiao, signed fight robe or boots, and signed pair of gloves.

As of August 16, the bidding price has reportedly reached 888.0000 ERN (cryptocurrency token), which is around $12,618.48. In Philippine peso, that's approximately PhP638,500.
