Gloria Romero meets her former teacher in 'Tunay na Buhay'
If you've been missing veteran actress Gloria Romero on TV, wait no further as the iconic Daig Kayo ng Lola Ko star and showbiz pillar made an appearance on Tunay na Buhay for a surprise.
The 87-year-old actress met one of the women who helped shape her youth--her former teacher who is now 100 years old!
Centenarian Lola Virgie Benigno-Malay reunited with Gloria Romero through a video call arranged by Tunay na Buhay.
Lola Virgie told Tunay na Buhay that she was also able to talk to her other former students virtually.
"I was very happy to see them again. They're older now, but they were very well dressed," she said.
Upon seeing her former teacher, Gloria said, "Naku, ayan na ang hinihintay ko talaga... my teacher. It's so nice to see my teacher.
"How are you, madam?"
Lola Virgie, on ther other hand, told Glorian, "I'm so proud of you that you have become a model and actress. I'm so glad to see you again."
The veteran actress replied, "Thank you so much po, nakakaiyak naman na naalala niyo pa ako.
"Maraming salamat po, mahal na mahal ko kayo. Mahal na mahal ko kayo."
Both women gave advice on how to live a healthy and happy life
Gloria emphasized the need for rest, "You have to sleep. I think number one 'yan.
Lola Virgie said her no-pork diet and exercising has helped her stay healthy.
"Hindi ako kumakain ng pork. And walking, dito lang sa bahay. Kahit nakaupo lang ako, minsan tinataas ko ang paa ko.
"Pati sa bed, minsan tinataas ko pati arms ko."
Meanwhile, the TV and movie icon reflected on her career for the past 60 years.
She said, "Kailangan lagi ka magpasalamat sa Panginoon.
"Be good to everybody. Be humble, hindi puwedeng magmalaki ka sa mga tao.
"I love my job, I love it so much. Hindi ko inakala na darating ako sa mga ganito, so I'm happy."
In 2018, Gloria Romero was awarded Best Actress for Rainbow Sunset for the Metro Manila Film Festival where she starred with the late Eddie Garcia.
