Leticia Hizon, founder of Pamapanga's Best, passes away

The matriarch of well-known meat processing corporation Pampanga's Best, Mrs. Leticia Lolita Olalia Hizon, has passed away at age 84.

Her passing was announced in the official Facebook page of Pampanga's Best today, October 4.

The post reads, “The woman in the logo of the Philippines' iconic brand has joined our Creator. Her smile, charisma, and love for people has made a mark in the food industry. Her original Tocino remains the top food choice of every Filipino. Thank you, Apung Lolet! You lived a best life!”

Leticia Hizon is survived by her husband, Angelo Hizon, Jr., their 12 children, 61 grandchildren, and 31 great-grandchildren.

Hizon is the founder of Pampanga's Best and is the one who formulated their original tocino recipe.

Throughout her life, Hizon was a philanthropist who served the communities of San Fernando and Bacolor.

She was born on March 23, 1937 and passed away on Sunday, October 3.

The family has not disclosed details on her death, but they expressed their gratitude for the legacy she has left behind.

“Our loss is heaven's gain. Although we will miss her perpetually, her legacy lives on,” the family said in a statement. “Apung Lolet always said that the success of Pamapanga's Best has been because of Divine Providence. We continue to trust in God's sovereign plan, and express our utmost gratitude for lending us His amazing gift: our Apung Lolet.”
