Rabiya Mateo seeks to extend help to grandfather jailed for allegedly 'stealing' mangoes

On Facebook, the former beauty queen expressed her intentions to help Lolo Narding Floro whose arrest ignited massive oppositions on social media.

She said, "Can someone bridge me to Lolo? Finding ways to contact him."

Her move raked in positive feedback online and netizens praised her for having a good heart.

The arrest and detention of Floro is currently making headlines. According to the Public Information Office (PIO) of Asingan, the old man's arrest was based on the warrant issued by the 7th Municipal Circuit Trial Courts (MCTC) of Asingan-San Manuel last December 20, 2021.

Floro attempted to reach an agreement and offered to pay the mangoes but instead, he was told to settle a PhP6,000 bail.

Reportedly, a manhunt operation was planned for Floro's arrest. The poor old man reasoned that he picked the fruits because to his understanding, he owns the land where the tree was planted.

The Asingan PIO said Floro was teary-eyed during questioning and expressed his desire to go home.
