Celebrity life coach Myke Celis talks about acceptance this Pride Month

“There should be no closet in the first place, so people don't have to hide.”

This is according to celebrity life coach and best selling author Myke Celis, who's also a proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community. Such a timely statement as Pride month is celebrated this June, in honor of the members of the LGBTQIA+ community and their allies.

Coach Myke, best known for his "Best Me Ever" platform and as one of the faces of the rainbow community when it comes to coaching, is a firm believer that love, and life in general, should not have any gender-based boundaries. Given this, he advocates for the acceptance of parents who have LGBTQIA+ children.

“It starts at home. It should be a safe space for children, regardless of their gender, to express themselves without the fear of judgment or rejection,” says Coach Myke, who himself had a coming out story way back then.

“Back then during my time, it wasn't easy because I came from a highly conservative family. I think now with the presence of social media, people have become more receptive because they now have access to more information, thus allowing them to have a bigger and more receptive perspective towards the members of the LGBTQIA+ community. Really, education and having an open mind and heart is crucial in developing acceptance and fostering love.”

He also addresses the pressure the society puts on the members of the LGBTQIA+ community, thus others tend to hide in the closet and live an alternative life in the shadows because of fear and anxiety.

“I believe that at the end of the day, it's a person's choice as to what gender he/she subscribes to. And we must all be respectful of that. One's gender alone should (and could) never define the value of a person. So, why put those who may seem different from others inside a box?

"Everyone is entitled to just be as free and happy as everyone else. No one needs to lobby for understanding, tolerance or acceptance. That should be freely given out of respect.”

Every Pride Month, Coach Myke gives back to the communityby offering free coaching sessions for members of the LGBTQIA+ community who want to come out.

It's a 30-minute one-on-one session with Coach Myke, treated with utmost confidentiality and geared towards helping people recognize and overcome their fears--hopefully, help them step out of the closet and begin living the life they want.

“I envision a world that allows everyone to take pride in themselves, as they are, as #lovewins always. This is my way of contributing to that cause," he concluded.
