Binibining Pilipinas Globe Chelsea Fernandez makes it to final round of talent competition

By Ron Lim

There's only little over a week left before the coronation night of Miss Globe on October 15, and Binibining Pilipinas Globe Chelsea Fernandez is making sure she is in the running for the crown as she makes it into the final of the pageant's talent competition.

In one of her latest Instagram posts, Chelsea put up two photos of her, one of which showing her in the middle of belting out Rihanna's “Diamonds.” In the caption to the post, she said that it was “a fun experience performing with an international crowd and sharing with the globe how talented Filipinos are.” She then added that she will be headed to the finals of the talent show, which will be held on October 9.

Chelsea's good performance early into the pageant may be a good sign of her chance in winning the crown down the line. She is aiming to replicate Maureen Montagne's win last year and become the third Filipina to bring home the Miss Globe crown after Maureen and Ann Colis, who first won the crown for the country back in 2015. Chelsea winning the crown would also be a memorable cap to her first trip outside of the country.

Aside from Chelsea, two other Binibining Pilipinas winners are also overseas to compete in other international pageants.

Binibining Pilipinas Intercontinental Gabrielle Basiano is currently in Egypt for the Miss Intercontinental pageant and is also seeking to keep the crown with the Philippines after Cinderella “Cindy” Faye Obeñita's win in 2021 and Karen Gallman of Bohol's win in 2018.

In Indonesia, Binibining Pilipinas Grand International Roberta Tamondong is aiming to become the first Filipina to win the Miss Grand International crown. Samantha Bernardo was able to finish first runner-up a few years ago, while last year's Binibining Pilipinas Grand International, Samantha Panlilio did not make it into the top 20.
