Carlene then competed in the Binibining Pilipinas in 2005 and was the country's representative to compete in the Miss World held in Iceland. Carlene finished in the Top 15 that year.

Carlene has a son with former boyfriend Kapuso Drama King Dennis Trillo named Calix Andreas. She gave birth to Calix in Los Angeles, California on September 22, 2007.
After parting ways with the Kapuso actor, Carlene met a non-showbiz guy named Yo Ocampo. She eventually married him in civil wedding rites at the Quezon City hall on June 20, 2009.
