Benjamin Alves on Direk Ricky Davao: 'I've been blessed to work with him again'

Unang naging director ni Benjamin Alves si Ricky Davao sa primetime series na Coffee Prince na pinagbidahan nina Aljur Abrenica at Kris Bernal. It was also Ben's first project as a Kapuso, and he feels blessed to be working with the actor-director for the second time in the telefantasya Adarna.

"I've been blessed to work with him again. He's very good. [He has] very minimal input because he trusts his actors, all of us," pahayag ni Benjamin.

Dagdag pa niya, very open si Direk Ricky sa suggestions ng mga artista niya, at pinapayagan din silang mag-ad-lib kapag bumibitaw ng mga linya. Hindi daw ito nagagalit sa set at sanay na sanay sa puyatan.

"It's nice to have that, so if your director's puyat din at wala siyang reklamo, you have no right para magreklamo. Kapag wala akong eksena, matutulog ako. He doesn't have that benefit so dapat ibigay mo ang kinakailangan niya from your character."

Dahil sa style ni Direk Ricky ay lalong ginagalingan ni Ben ang pagganap bilang Bok. He puts a lot of effort into it dahil malayo daw si Bok sa totoong Ben. "Mahirap, but thankfully our staff has been really good in giving us the breakdowns ahead of schedule. The ad-libs only work kapag alam ko 'yung dialogue. I have the hardest time memorizing my dialogue, especially 'yung pronunciation."

Sa kanilang tatlo nina Migo at Falco, bakit si Bok ang dapat piliin ni Ada?

"Dahil mas pogi ako (laughs)! From the start, si Ada talaga ang minahal niya. Maski dineny niya at first, si Ada lang ang laman ng puso niya. Walang babaeng ibon na hinahabol, walang Robin, walang Garuda."
