Mikoy Morales passionately talks about his first love

Cute, smart and preppy, Mikoy could very well be Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s doppelganger. Beyond looking like a famous Hollywood star, the Protégé runner-up has an extremely creative streak that makes him such a good catch. Most of all, he is passionate. How far would he go to pursue his one true love?

Over the past year, we have seen Mikoy in shows like Teen Gen and With A Smile. He currently appears in the GMA Afternoon Prime series, Villa Quintana. It seems that the path to acting has already been laid out for him. Will we be seeing more acting projects for him soon?

Mikoy said,“I’m still trying to pursue my music. Aside from school, sana magkaroon din ako ng ibang venues, opportunities and connections in order to grow aside from the soaps.”

“’Yung soap, ang laking bagay nun. Maraming nagwoworkshop but once you’re in a soap, it’s different. Ang laki ng igro-grow mo in that span of time. Minsan kasi feeling ko naiiwanan ko na ‘yung music ko,” he added.

Fueled by passion, Mikoy’s drive for music is exceptional. He revealed,“Music is really my priority and first love. Sana maka catch up ‘yung music ko sa acting ko.”

What is it about music that truly gets him? What does he love about this craft the most?

The actor-musician replied, “I love music because it allows me to explore. I get to write theme songs, and I really like that. Buti nga ‘yung iba nagamit sa GMA.”

He continued, “My real genre is acoustic pop ballad. ‘Yung challenge doon and the beauty of it is that I can focus on other genres as well as test my versatility. I get to write songs for horror movies, I get to score music for indie films and I get to write for other artists. It’s an immersion for me.”

Does he also use his music to woo girls? Is he the type of guy who will go out of his way to perform a “harana” for the girl he likes?

“Actually, it happened a few times before, but feeling ko kasi before, my music was my baby. My songs are my babies. Sobrang na-attached ako sa kanila. Sa dami ko na kasing nagawang songs ngayon, baka hindi na siya ganoon ka-special sa girl, so I’ll be doing something else this Valentine’s,” stated Mikoy.

This Valentine’s Mikoy plans to have dinner with his special someone and go somewhere they’ve never been before. Whatever happens, Mikoy is sure that it is going to be perfect.

“Ang perfect Valentine’s for me is ‘yung alam mong nag-effort ‘yung lalaki. 90 percent of the time, when a guy has a gimmick for a girl, laging may mali or laging may hindi natutuloy sa plano. Para sa akin, ‘yun ‘yung perfect, ‘yung hindi perfect. It’s the gist of Valentine’s eh, loving the imperfections of that person and yourself,” he said.
