Jonalyn Viray celebrates nine years in show business with major concert


Jonalyn Viray has gone a long way from her humble beginnings in Pinoy Pop Superstar as she holds her first major solo concert. Dubbed ‘Jonalyn Viray dares to be #Fearless,’ the anticipated performance will be held in the Music Museum on Friday, February 28.

Her guests include musical icons, influences and good friends namely Regine Velasquez-Alcasid, Kuh Ledesma and Brenan Espartinez.

Brenan Espartinez, who was her runner-up in the GMA talent search Pinoy Pop Superstar, has also become a very dear friend to Jonalyn.

In 2006, the two competed in the World Championships of Performing Arts in Hollywood, California where they bagged major awards. Jonalyn and Brenan won two gold medals for the vocal duet division in the categories pop and R&B and jazz.

They also brought home four championship plaques for the vocal duet division in the categories of Pop, Gospel, Broadway and an industry award.

The concert is also a celebration of Jonalyn’s nine years in show business.

The 24-year-old singer is also the voice behind the theme songs of Kapuso shows ‘Magkano ba ang Pag-ibig?’, ‘Padam Padam’, ‘Lola’, ‘My Husband’s Lover’, ‘Darna’, ‘Mulawin’, ‘Bakekang’, ‘Mahawi Man ang Ulap’ ang ‘Maging Akin Ka Lamang’.

Jonalyn was also a member of La Diva, a pop singing trio that included Aicelle Santos and Maricris Garcia. The well-acclaimed group won the 2010 People’s Choice Favorite Group Recording Artists, the 2010 PMPC Star Awards for Music Best Group of the Year, the 2010 PMPC Star Awards for Music Best Music Video of the Year for ‘Kasiping Ka’ and the 2010 Best Group Performance in a Concert.
