Barefaced and with a baby in her arms, Iza Calzado shared on Instagram her struggles as a first-time mom to Deia Amihan.

Iza gave birth to her daughter with entrepreneur Ben Wintle on January 26, 2023. In fact, in her Instagram post a day before she gave birth, she announced that she would be having a social media break to focus on herself and her baby.

Iza gave her followers a bit of an idea of what she is going through lately as she takes on her biggest role yet as a mother.

She began her post by saying, “This photo was taken a few days after giving birth, right after I cried so hard from a few “failures” I felt I had as a new mother mixed with the deep love I was feeling for my child, the kind I have never felt for anyone before.

“It's quite a punch, the first few days, weeks post birth. Hindi siya madali. I am still recovering from it all but every day gets better and better. I am on my ninth week postpartum and we are a few weeks away from completing the fourth trimester. This is, by far, the most challenging yet fulfilling journey I have been on and I know it is only the beginning.”

The versatile actress continued, “At this point, I find myself navigating this transition in the best way I know how -- with faith, compassion, gratitude, and love knowing I am divinely guided and supported.

“I will be sharing some of the challenges, the precious, joy-filled moments and the grace in all of it when the time is right.”

Mommy Iza also added that her baby is a true “gift” from God. She stated, “Grabe, what a ride! I am becoming, I am evolving into -- wait... I am a Mother! An imperfectly perfect Mother to my precious child, Deia. Biruin mo yun? A gift indeed. Thank You, Lord!

“P.S. Will be sharing photos also just savoring our baby a bit more and honoring our fourth trimester. Pagbigyan na. Salamat!”

Several celebrity moms flooded the comment section of Iza's post to boost her morale.

Former Encantadia star Solenn Heussaff, who portrayed the role of Cassiopea in the requel in 2016 wrote: “You were born to be a mother”

While TV host-actress Anne Curtis reminded Iza that she's an “amazing mom”.

“YOU are amazing Iza. It's going to be the most beautiful journey with Deia. Frustrations, challenges, and everything that comes with the chapter of motherhood.”

Iza and Ben tied the knot in 2018 in a star-studded ceremony in Palawan and in August of last year, when Iza turned 40, she confirmed to the public that she was pregnant.
