It has already been a year since Ashley Ortega and Lucena City Mayor Mark Alcala broke up.

Since then, the Sparkle artist became focused on practicing self-love, enjoying life as a single woman again, and traveling around Asia.

In an exclusive interview on GMA Integrated News' podcast Update with Nelson Canlas, Ashley shared her heart's status, revealing how healed and happy she currently is in life.

"My heart is so full, and I'm happy. But, I'm still single. I'm still single. But, I'm enjoying my single era," the actress said.

When she was asked about the possibility of being in a relationship again, Ashley answered that she felt she wasn't ready at the moment due to her numerous upcoming projects for this year, including her upcoming action-drama series Pulang Araw and the newly launched group, Sparkle 10.

However, she clarified, "Of course, I'm not closing my doors, kapag may dumating na taong feeling ko may potential. I will, ano naman embrace it. Pero, sa ngayon kasi parang hindi, e."

Ashley also confessed that she sometimes feels lonely and bored, so she occasionally goes on dates to meet new people.

"I do go out and hang out with guys, to get to know them, pero hanggang doon lang. I always tell them also na, 'Ano lang, ha, this is like a casual hangout.' I just really wanna explore and get to know a lot of people. So, parang doon ako sa stage na ayun," Ashley said.

When Nelson asked if she wanted to be in a relationship soon, the Sparkle actress mentioned she's open to the opportunity when the right time comes.

She responded, "Kaya naman, pero it's my choice to not be in a relationship first with someone. Kasi, nai-enjoy ko yung time ko. I enjoy being single and I just want to explore and meet a lot of people Di ba? Ayoko yung, naisip ko kasi parang, pag may boyfriend ako, parang magpapaalam pa ako, punta ko sa ganito, ganiyan. Parang, ayoko muna ng gano'n."
