Korean stars Ku Hye Sun and Ahn Jae Hyun had a picture-perfect relationship prior to their divorce.
Ku Hye Sun is popularly known for her role as Geum Jandi in the Korean adaptation of 'Hana Yori Dango' or 'Boys Over Flowers' (2009).
Ahn Jae Hyun began his career as a fashion model in 2009. His popularity rose after he appeared as Jun Ji Hyun's younger brother in 'My Love from the Star.'
The pair first worked together for the 2015 drama 'Blood.' Since then, the two stars were frequently spotted together off cam.
They tied the knot on May 21, 2016 in a wedding ceremony that took place in Jeju Island, South Korea.
They later on starred in 'Newlyweds Diary' in 2017 where their life as a newly married couple was documented.
After their divorce was announced, staff of the show reportedly told Korean media that Ahn Jae Hyun and Ku Hye Sun sometimes would stay inside a room on the set and argue for hours.
In August 2019, Ku Hye Sun announced on Instagram that Ahn Jae Hyun asked her for a divorce right after his birthday.
She then revealed text messages between her and her husband which highlighted their disagreements. The actress revealed she suffered mental trauma from their troubled marriage and later on announced her retirement from the industry.
Ahn Jae Hyun officially filed for divorce in September 2019. The actor later on deleted all his posts and unfollowed everyone
on Instagram. Then, he revealed that he has also been battling mental health issues.
On July 15, an official agreement was released after the Seoul Family Court had a mediation hearing about the divorce. The two stars were not present during the session.
On July 16, it announced through a statement from their representatives that the two are officially divorced.
