Baron Geisler and Cristine Reyes give advice to people who are in a blended family.
Beloved, which will be shown in cinemas nationwide starting March 30.
“I think you know naman na I'm in a blended family. By God's grace, it's working, I have no complaints. It just takes a lot of effort,” said Baron, who is now four years married to a psychologist, Jamie Marie Evangelista.
Baron and Jamie has a daughter named Talitha Cumi, who was born in January 2020. Before these, the latter has two sons from her previous relationship.
According to Baron, aside from Jamie, he also did his best to win the hearts of her two sons.
“When I was started with Jamie, noong bago pa lang kami, hindi lang siya ang niligawan ko, e, niligawan ko rin yung two boys niya. And by loving their mother so much, nagiging normal yung respect nila sa akin. Nagkaroon ako ng relationship with my two boys and I treat them as mine na,” Baron related.
In connection with this, the actor stressed how important it is for the couple to be strong and ready to face any challenges in their relationship.
He said, “It's just a decision of making good choices. Your choices may be good, but there will always be consequences pagdating sa blended family. So, I just have to be, Jamie and I, we just have to be ready sa kung ano ang ibibigay sa amin ng buhay, ready and prepared.”
Baron also stressed, “Dahil sa setup nitong blended family, mas naging mature ako.”
He explained, “Iit takes a lot of maturity to understand her past traumas; healing together; and of course, her mission and vision, not only for the kids but also for our love. Saan ba papunta yung relationship namin? And yung feeling of security na kahit na anong mangyari--knowing her past and she knows mine--and importante ay we respect each other as individuals. We just have to stumble forward and be prepared. Kasi, ang dami ring obstacles in life, it's not all flowers.
Like Baron, Cristine also has a personal experience in being part of a blended family. Cristine and actress Ara Mina are half-sisters through their mom, Venus Imperial.
Cristine said, “I think sa ano lang 'yan nagma-matter, parang common sense lang, past is past and you have to move forward to present life. So, just deal with what you have right now and deal with it accordingly. Tanggalin mo na lang yung drama from the past, move on, and give it your best shot. You know, dalhin mo kung ano yung learnings mo from the past, itama mo na ngayon.”
