Kapuso couple Mikael Daez and Megan Young do a deep dive into the saying, "You don't just marry an individual, you marry the whole family,” in the latest episode of their podcast, '#BehindRelationshipGoals.'
There, the two discussed how they "found their way" into each other's families as their relationship progressed.
One of the instances that Mikael shared in the podcast is the story of how Megan accidentally made a bad first impression on Mikael's conservative Lola.
"This was the first handful of reunions you went to, maybe even the first one in my Dad's side. At this point, we were already together, we had seen each other for a few months already, very comfortable with one another.
"You were in shorts, not naman in super-short shorts pero 'shorts.' Your legs were seen and you're tall compared to everyone else. You come in and people can see those legs. My Lola is definitely conservative, very religious, very pious and prayerful. The tendency definitely is 'Very eye-catching 'yan.' You come in in a 'not-the-most-conservative-fashion.'
"She comes in, okay lang. What she had to do that Megan isn't used to is greet everyone and beso. Megan kasi usually handshakes. Binigyan ko na siya ng heads-up siyempre. 'Yun 'yung nakasanayan ng pamilya ko. She did that, she did a great job, I introduced everyone, naaliw lahat, we went along with lunch. As the day went on, she stuck to me and we were having fun and then she eventually sat on my lap.
"She sat on my lap for a good five, ten seconds. Wala lang, as in playfully lang, not in a sexy way obviously. We were just probably joking. And that five-to-ten seconds was all she needed to make an impression on my Lola.
"As soon as that ended, I don't know if she coursed it through my mom or my mom told me, but someone told me, 'Hey, I don't think it's appropriate that Megan sits on your lap during the reunion.'
"You know what, I have to say, I think that's my fault. I should've been more aware but nawala sa isip ko because I was so comfortable with you, obviously I'm comfortable with my family," he recalled.
After hearing the story again, Megan blushed in embarrassment but admitted that the interaction made her be more mindful of her actions whenever she's with Mikael's family.
