Following the circulation of digitally altered photos of Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray, actor-singer Sam Milby has had enough with fake news as he released an official statement via Instagram on Sunday, July 19.

He said, “I cannot simply stand by and allow other people to take control of a narrative that is not theirs to tell.

“Cat and I have chosen to keep our relationship mostly private.

"It was only until recently that we made an exception, to lend our voices to charitable causes.

“But that does not mean that there is truth to any of these false stories and fake news that people are creating to fill in the blanks.

"In fact, these wrongful accusations and defamatory lies are dangerous.”

The actor implied that although it was their choice to remain quiet, it doesn't necessarily mean that the rumors are true.

He added, “Cat is one of the kindest souls I've ever known.

“She is always putting other people first; thinking of how to use her voice and talent to help other people in need.

“Her grace, dignity, and strength even in the midst of all these false accusations make me admire and love her even more.”

He concluded the post by saying, “I will always be here for her and will do everything in my power to protect her.”

Sam and Catriona confirmed their relationship only last May 23, his 36th birthday.

They recently performed a stripped version of Catriona's song “We're in this Together,” which aims to collect funds for Young Focus Philippines's “Quality Education for All” campaign.

According to Catriona, their goal is to raise PhP 1 million to kickstart an online education program for the students of Young Focus amidst the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.
