Maxene Magalona

The actress and her husband, Rob Mananquil, are celebrating their wedding anniversary.

“[Three] years. What an emotional roller coaster ride it has been. So many ups and downs until we both figured out the root cause of our issues and found ways to help each other heal.”

This was how actress Maxene Magalona began her anniversary message for husband, Rob Mananquil.

The two got married on January 11, 2018 in Boracay, Aklan.

In a lengthy Instagram post, Maxene touched on the bliss and challenges of married life, and how every day still leads to discoveries and realizations.

“Healing during the first few years of marriage is no piece of cake. It will really challenge you and push you to your limits. So many petty quarrels and long conversations about who's right and wrong,” said Maxene.

“So much energy wasted by arguing, pointing fingers, and eventually giving each other the silent treatment --only to forget a few hours later why you even fought in the first place.

“It's definitely a struggle but the great thing about it is that you both get to learn and grow together on a much deeper level.”

Maxene has been very open about her mental condition and how her pent-up emotions affected their relationship as a couple.

The 34-year-old actress was diagnosed with complex post-traumatic stress disorder or C-PTSD, something that she bravely revealed on social media in October of last year.

She credits yoga and meditation for helping her manage her moods and outbursts.

“Most couples just don't know that the reason why they get triggered so much is because of stored tension and negative emotions that are stuck inside their bodies,” Maxene wrote in her latest post.

“Now I understand the importance of being aware of your spouse's triggers so that you will know how to respond accordingly. Knowing your partner's trauma is a love language. And choosing to stay even after all the messy fights and unnecessary drama is true love.”

Rob also took to Instagram to greet his wife on their anniversary.

Maxene and Rob marked their special day by releasing their prenup video titled “Gunita” on Instagram.

Rob, a musician, wrote the song in the video, which Maxene described as “high-strung and intense yet dreamy and harmonious.”

She further said, “Every time I watch this, it brings happy tears to my eyes and makes my heart beam with pride as I know how my husband pours his soul into every one of his songs.”
