Gretchen Barretto and Tonyboy Cojuangco share secret to lasting togetherness
Former actress Gretchen Barretto and Antonio “Tonyboy” Cojuangco has just celebrated their 27th year of togetherness last Tuesday, February 2.
The couple marked the milestone by uploading a short snippet of their conversation together, as recorded by their daughter Dominique on Instagram.
She asked her parents, “How many years have you been together?”
To which Gretchen replied lovingly, “Twenty-seven years.”
Dominique then further asked, “What's your tip to everybody who wants to stay together for that long?”
Tonyboy, taking the mic this time, answered, “Always listen to Mama. The mama is always right.”
Despite being together for so long, the socialite and the business magnate have remained unmarried all these years.
Furthermore, Tonyboy has yet to annul his marriage to equestrienne Denise Yabut-Cojuangco.
In an interview with Ricky Lo in 2002, Gretchen admitted wanting to tie the knot with her partner and said, “When that time happens, I want to get married for the right reasons.”
During their 23rd anniversary last February 2017, Gretchen uploaded a loving message for her partner and said that despite the difference of their worlds, “true love conquers all.”
She wrote in the post, “For many who witnessed our relationship from the beginning, most predicted that we wouldn't last more than two months.
“My Tony, being 19 years older, coming from a wealthy family, a respected businessman and brilliant one, to say the least. And me, being an actress, coming from the extreme opposite side of the world and yes, of a different breed and class. But hey, here we are, through it all, I guess it's safe for me to say that true love conquers all.”
She added, “To my Tony, thank you for being my everything rolled into one. My best friend, my dada, my partner in crime, my protector, my defender, and yes, my Santa. I love you for making me get away with anything and everything.
“Thank you for allowing me to be the bratty baby around home.”
Gretchen and Tonyboy were blessed to have their daughter, Dominique, who is an aspiring fashion designer.
