Celebrity couple Sheryn Regis and Mel de Guia went up to the mountains of Kalinga and had themselves inked by Apo Whang-Od, the last and the oldest "mambabatok" from the tribe of Butbut.

In an Instagram post, the “Come In Out Of The Rain” hitmaker expressed her happiness at achieving yet another “memorable experience” with her partner Mel.

“A memorable experience with a Legendary Tattoo Artist APO WHANG-OD described as the "last" and oldest mambabatok of the larger Kalinga ethnic group,” Sheryn said.

Mel also posted a similar photo which she simply captioned with “The “Last” and oldest mambabatok Apo Whang-od with my CVOA.”

Aside from the three-dot signature tattoo of Apo Whang-Od, the celebrity couple also got matching tattoos on their backs and fans of the couple were quick to admire their new seal of love.

Sheryn recently made headlines upon their admission of her romance with Mel, a YouTuber, and proud member of the LGBTQ community.

Mel also documented their entire experience on a vlog he uploaded on YouTube.

Meanwhile, Apo Whang-Od Oggay is famously known as the last mambabatok (Kalinga tattoo artist) from the tribe of Butbut in Buscalan, Kalinga. Her tattooing career has spanned over 80 years and among her past works include inking for headhunters of indigenous tribes in her early years.

It was believed that Apo Whang-Od's artistry put Kalinga on the Philippine map's top must-visit places for both local and foreign visitors who dare brave the 10-hour hike to the cold mountains just to get inked by her.
