In their Instagram post last month, the Ramsays roamed around one of Spain's biggest cities, which is located at the Northeastern Mediterranean coast of the country.

But this family trip for Derek and Ellen, who tied the knot in November 2021, was bittersweet.
In an interview for his Metro Manila Film Festival 2023 movie (K)ampon, Derek shared that they found out that Ellen suffered a miscarriage during their vacation in Spain.
He told the entertainment press during the media conference, “Noong nasa Spain kami, nalaman namin na preggy si Ellen. Unfortunately, we lost the baby. Pero at least, alam namin na hindi kami baog. First attempt pa lang naman. Well, successful-unsuccessful.”

On December 11, Derek Ramsay told the members of the entertainment press during the grand media conference for '(K)ampon' that Ellen suffered a miscarriage.
According to Derek Ramsay, he hasn't processed his feelings after finding out that they lost their baby.
He explained to the media, “It's just been in the last week. Medyo hindi ko alam kung ano ang mapi-feel. Kasi, super happy biglang lowest of the lows. She's pregnant then, she's not pregnant. Hindi masabi ng doktor na hindi pa siya talaga nalalaglag. Ang daming tanong na hindi masagot. The doctor has to be safe to say that she could still be pregnant.
“Paglapag namin galing Spain, diretso na kaagad kami sa ospital. So, it's super roller coaster of emotions. But the priority is Ellen is okay, she's safe. Good thing is, we know, we can conceive a baby.”
