In the recent GMA summer special Summer Squad Goals, Kapuso stars Ken Chan and Rita Daniela got to experience an incredible summer getaway with strangers called “joiners.”

During this trip, the former My Special Tatay actors visited the famous destinations in Albay, Camarines Sur, and Sorsogon while experiencing different thrilling activities like riding an ATV and wakeboarding at the Camarines Sur Watersports Complex.

While the show may be over, the two actors got to share with GMANetwork.com their learnings during the trip.

For one, Rita said was a joiner before making it big on the small screen.

“Ako, it's fun kasi I've been a joiner before, e.

“Nung college ako, joiners ako, so I know how it works and I know 'yung program.

“Siya [Ken] first time niya talaga.”

She also stressed the importance of traveling rather than spending on things that will deteriorate in the future.

“For me, it's really the experience. Talagang spend on traveling talaga.

“Hindi 'yung material things like, branded bags. Kasi ako, personally, 'di ako ganun.

“Iba pa rin 'yung nagbe-breakfast kami at kitang-kita namin 'yung Mayon Volcano. 'Yun 'yung highlight of the trip for me.

“So, spend time on traveling and spend time finding yourself.

“Binubuo mo 'yung sarili mo when you travel, e.

“The more you go to places, the more you meet a lot of people, the more you find yourself and you'll know what you want and what you don't want.”

For Ken, on the other hand, realized that it's also fun to travel by land.

“Masaya rin pala ang makapag-land travel,” he says.

“Kasi kapag nag-land travel ka, madadaanan mo lahat ng province at pwede kang mag-stop over kasi hawak mo oras mo.

“Unlike 'pag nag-airplane ka, one destination ka lang.

“'Di ka magkakaroon ng chance na mapuntahan o matikman 'yung mga pagkain at makapag-meet ng maraming tao.

“Once you travel by land, you get to meet a lot of people, go to lots of places, experience their food, traditions, culture.”

So, will he do it again in the future?

Ken said it's very much likely to happen.

“Meron. After namin ni Rita, meron akong brother na mahilig mag-hike.

“So, this May, sasama ako sa kanila. Joiners din at sa Mt. Pulag kami pupunta.

“So, excited ako kasi first time ko na maging joiners na walang TV at walang camerang harap. Feeling ko, mae-enjoy ko.”
