14 signs you got a serious case of wanderlust

By Cherry Sun

No imagined disease is more incurable than a case of wanderlust. Travelers are just simply restless, always itching for fresh experiences and new adventures.

If you want to find out the intensity of your thirst to travel, take a look at this checklist!

1. You're a slave to seat sales.

You are in perpetual pursuit of the cheapest flights. Searching the internet for the most affordable airfares is part of your daily routine. You're always among the first to know about seat sales offered either through travel fairs or online promos.

2. You just got back but you're already planning your next trip.

You haven't completely returned to your regular grind but here you are daydreaming of your next destination. You have the rough details of your next trip already planned out.

3. You continue posting travel photos even weeks, months after your trip.

You pepper your feed with all the photos taken from your recent adventure. You are unapologetic about posting throwback photos that were only snapped a few months back. If you can still refrain from posting so often, you surely spend a lot of time staring at those photos, waiting for the next time to recreate them.

4. You're the go-to friend for itineraries and travel recommendations.

You possess a shortlist of where to stay, the best food finds, and the must-tries about particular destinations. No wonder, your friends call you to consult about their trips, too. You don't mind sharing your itineraries and giving your recommendations because you get to relive all the memories you had from that same trip.

5. You save up for your travels.

If you've just begun saving some money, you probably did so to satisfy your wanderlust. Budget for travel takes the highest priority when you look at your finances. You don't care if you need to skip meals or if you don't have the latest gadget as long as you get to set aside some moolah for your next dream trip.

6. You closely monitor the count of your vacation leaves (and sick leaves).

You keep count of the number of days you can use to go on leave. And you make sure no hard-earned leave goes to waste. You carefully plot them, examining if you can further extend your absence with the help of holidays and, for some, by calling in sick days after your trip. You keep a calendar handy just to check the soonest time to hit the road again.

7. You're ready to leave your job.

You'd do anything for the chance to travel non-stop. Thus, quitting your job is just a personal feat waiting to happen. You can't wait to leave the routine and confines of your 9 to 5 job. Maybe, you've drafted your resignation letter, and you're just waiting for the best time to submit it to your boss. But admittedly, you won't' get to do this anytime soon.

8. Your friend list includes people from different countries.

You've practically made connections or even special relationships with people abroad. They may be the people you met in cultural tours or immersive classes. They may be your fellow travelers or locals who made your international experience one to remember. Then, you might have vouched that you'd gladly return the favor when it's their turn to visit your home country or hometown.

9. You're not too keen about the idea of settling down.

Nothing sounds more terrifying than getting lost in an exotic city, sharing a room with strangers, or going bungee-jumping thousands of feet above the ground but the thought of settling down. While your friends busy themselves with engagement dinners, or their new house, or the arrival of their baby, all you worry about is the soonest moment you can fly out. Maybe the only time you're comfortable about settling down is when you've finally found some who share the same level of wanderlust as you.

10. You wish that your return trip is canceled, delayed or that you miss it.

The only time you'd wish for a cancellation, a delay, or missing your flight is at the end of your trip. You might even consider missing your return trip on purpose just to extend your stay a bit longer.

11. You share travel quotes and travel blogs on your timeline.

You have a newfound perspective about life and experiences, and you feel compelled to share that level of awakening and inspiration towards other people. And the fastest way to do this is by sharing travel quotes and stories.

12. You've mastered the art of packing.

Packing your belongings is not a tedious task anymore because you've already mastered the art of it. You practice packing merely out of the frequency of your trips. So whether you're going out on an extended weekend or leaving for weeks, you can prepare your things hassle-free.

13. Your little treasures include a map, some travel books, and other knick-knacks you got as a souvenir.

You might have developed a little hoarder in you as you collect the best maps to document all the places you've been too. You stack your shelves with the best ideas from travel books and buy the cutest and most authentic souvenir from your recent destination. These, after all, are the little treasures that represent your rich experiences.

14. Your success meter is measured by the number of cities, countries you've visited.

Your status is not dictated by your career level nor by the properties you've owned. Your success and happiness are measured in the number of stamps on your passports, all the novelties you got to try for the first time, all the places you've visited, felt, and touched, and all the new friends you've met.

How serious is your case of wanderlust? We bet you can't finish this article without feeling a bit guilty!
