5 Local destinations to experience a white Christmas

By Cara Emmeline Garcia

A white Christmas is every Filipino's dream.

Imagine, snow-capped mountains, wearing layers upon layers of winter clothes, skiing down the slopes, and creating your very own snow angel.

While we may never get real snow in the country, there are some places available in the metro where you too can experience a cold, white Christmas with these attractions:

1. Christmas Village, Baguio City

Baguio may be the summer capital of the Philippines but that doesn't mean it can't turn into a winter wonderland too!

The much-raved Baguio Country Club Christmas Village showcases different Christmas trees, miniature houses, snowmen figures, and Disney characters that will definitely make your Christmas magical.

2. Trails to Antarctica, Manila Ocean Park

Interact with penguins and learn more about the continent of Antarctica at the Manila Ocean Park's Trail to Antarctica: The Penguin Quest.

The attraction is the very first penguin park in the Philippines that features an interactive penguin exhibit and a freezing snow village.

3. SM Ice Skating Rink, SM Malls

You don't have to travel far to experience ice activities because you can learn how to glide, slide, and have fun with your kids in SM's Ice Skating Rink.

From SM Megamall in Ortigas to Mall of Asia in Pasay, an all-day ice skating pass includes gear rentals and lockers plus you can opt to get formal lessons for figure skating or ice hockey.

4. Enchanted Kingdom, Laguna

Magic is definitely everywhere this Christmas in Enchanted Kingdom.

In the Brooklyn Place zone, visitors can have a taste of a white Christmas at the Snow Village, which recreates a 1930s movie set. At 8:15 pm, visitors can also witness the Maphista's Moonstone Parade which showcases an amazing light show near the Rialto theater.

5. Disney on Ice, MOA Arena

Relive your childhood days together with your kids at the 2019 Disney on Ice!

This year, the annual program is bringing Moana and Miguel from Coco together with the other characters from Disney classics like “Beauty and the Beast,” “Cinderella,” and "Winnie the Pooh." The show will run from December 21 until January 5 only so make sure to grab your tickets.

A white, cold Christmas may be impossible but these local destinations can make your winter dreams come true.
