Lovi Poe reminisces about her favorite travel destinations

As tourism temporarily takes a pause due to the pandemic, globetrotters suddenly found themselves stuck in their homes and with nothing to do but reminisce about their wonderful travels before countries went on lockdown.

This is especially true for Lovi Poe.

Earlier this year, the Philippine Travel Agencies Association (PTAA) named Lovi Poe as one of the top 10 most traveled Filipino celebrities. And, being included in such a notable list would also indicate that Lovi has seen enough beautiful places to be able to have a few personal favorite destinations.

In an exclusive interview with GMA Lifestyle, the Owe My Love actress described what she loves about her favorite places to visit.

New York City

Lovi's top travel destination is “The City That Never Sleeps,” New York City.

Lovi explained that most romantic movies that she likes are set in NYC.

“Just being there, it feels like reliving that moment or just reminds you of all these beautiful movies,” she said.

Lovi also admires the fast-paced lifestyle of New Yorkers.

She described, “Hindi siya nakaka-stress kahit sobrang busy nila tignan, parang mas nakaka-inspire na feeling mo there is so much more to life. That's why I like New York.”

Paris

Lovi loves Paris because, in her own words, “it's such a romantic place.”

“It just reminds you so much of beauty and elegance as well,” she added.

She even noted how a simple activity of people-watching in a coffee shop could already make a person want to be in love.

“When you think about Paris, you think about love,” she said.

Japan

For Lovi, Japan is an escape from the heat of Manila.

“All you have to do is get on the plane and bumiyahe ka ng limang oras,” she said.

According to her, Japan is easy to like because it is near the Philippines and the cuisine is excellent - particularly her fave dishes, sushi and sashimi.

Aside from the food, Lovi also appreciates the people.

“By the way, yung mga tao doon, sobrang respectful nila. Pag dumaan ka, talagang babati, mag-hello at bow or nod kayo sa isa't isa,” she recalled.

Of course, Lovi took note of the lively lights and buildings of Tokyo City and the Lake Kawaguchiko where you can enjoy a great view of the Mt. Fuji.

Italy

Lovi considers Italy her favorite country in Europe, although she hasn't visited all the countries in the continent yet.

She believes this is because of Venice, which she considers a magical place.

“'Di ko makakalimutan 'yung first time kong pumasok,” she recounts, “pagpasok ko ng Venice, hindi ako makapaniwala na may ganong klaseng lugar na pakiramdam mo nasa isang movie set ka na isang fantasy movie or fantasy teleserye.”

Lovi also adores the South of Italy, where scenic destinations such as the Amalfi Coast, Positano, Sorrento, and Capri are found.

“Pakiramdam ko doon yung best place, aside from the Philippines, doon masarap mag-spend ng summer.

“Parang isa rin siyang kakaibang lugar para sa akin,” she added.

Lovi clarified that she did not have any vacation plans before the ECQ was implemented as she was at the time about to work on her show, Owe My Love.

However, that does not also discount the fact that a globetrotter like herself doesn't miss traveling the world. For now, all Lovi can do is reminisce about her past trips and hope that she could jet off again to beautiful, magical places, sooner than later.
