LIST: Local tourist destinations set to reopen under the 'new normal'
In an effort to slowly adapt to the “new normal” and jumpstart domestic tourism, private sector groups along with several government agencies including the Department of Tourism (DOT), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), and Department of Science and Technology (DOST) joined hands as they launched the #PinasMunaTayo online campaign, which advocates the patronization of local destinations in order to stimulate the growth of domestic consumption.
And after more than three months of community quarantine due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Philippine government has given these tourist destinations the green light to resume operations.
Here is the list of local destinations set to reopen for tourism under the new normal:
1. Boracay
Covid-19-free Boracay has started welcoming tourists again on June 2 but limited to locals from the Western Visayas region of Aklan, Antique, Iloilo, Capiz, Guimaras and Negros Occidental.
