Drew Arellano in Kenya

Drew Arellano witnessed the wonders of the Kenyan safari and got to see the Big Five.

In 2016, GMA Public Affairs' travel program Biyahe Ni Drew embarked on a great quest as they travel to its first continent outside Asia: Africa!

Drew Arellano and the rest of the Biyahe Ni Drew team fly off to Kenya where they experienced the three G's: great food, great adventure, and the Great Rift Valley.

Here we list down the five things you can do while visiting Kenya.

1. Eat to your heart's content at Carnivore Restaurant

Located at Nairobi, Kenya, this local restaurant dubbed itself as the “feast of the beast” thanks to its wide selection of meat offerings. From your usual pork, beef, chicken to wild cards like ostrich meat and ox balls, you're sure to have a great time delighting your palate and stomach.

2. Tick off your safari adventure

No travel to Africa is complete without doing a “Game Drive” or riding a vehicle to look for different kinds of wildlife freely occupying the wilderness of Kenya.

Put your safari adventure to the next level by visiting Kenya from July to November because it is traditionally thought of as the best season to see The Great Migration. Here, you can see the world's greatest wildlife -- from wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle -- migrating from Tanzania to Kenya.

3. Catch a glimpse of the Big Five

Do you know what lions, elephants, buffalo, rhinoceros, and leopards have in common? They're considered the biggest stars in the African safari. So if you get the chance to fly off to Kenya, never ever miss out on seeing The Big Five in their natural element.

Aside from these amazing creatures, you can also see other animals including zebras, cheetahs, giraffes, and hippopotamus.

Fun fact: Did you know that in Africa, the buffalo trumps a lion? The more you know, biyaheros.

4. Have an amazing glamping experience

Located in the beautiful Maasai Mara, where the Great Migration takes place, is the Sarova Mara Game Camp where you can unwind after a long day of exploration at the African wilderness.

Sarova Mara Game Camp offers spacious and luxurious “tents” that feature spectacular views of the beautiful Maasai Mara National Reserve. They're equipped with everything: large mirrors, cold and hot water for showers, and a fully-stocked mini-bar. Now that's what we call glamping.

5. Visit the Maasai Village

When visiting a country, one must always experience its culture. And in Kenya, villages are open for tourists to explore and offer a lecture about their tribe.

For added fun, try joining the jumping contest of the Maasai tribe. They said that whoever jumps the highest gets a wife.

With this amazing list of things to do, who wouldn't want to add Africa in their list of dream destinations? Just like what Drew said in this episode, “The African adventure is definitely one for the books!”
