PH islands named best in Asia; 3 El Nido resorts on the Top 30 list
Despite the sharp decline in global tourism, the Philippines remains as one of the top destinations in the world.
Luxury and travel lifestyle magazine Conde Nast Traveller (CNT) recently announced the 2020 winners of its annual Readers' Choice Awards.
The magazine survey their readers every year to vote for their favorite island, resort, hotel, airline, among others. Some of the best Philippine islands and resorts have consistently landed on this list.
The Department of Tourism (DOT) also posted about the announcement. This year, “Cebu and Visayas Islands” were named as the Best Island in Asia. Palawan, Siargao, and Boracay also made it to the list, placing fourth, fifth, and sixth respectively.
According to DOT, Cebu and Visayas was lumped together as one entry while Boracay, which is also located in the Visayas, was included as a single entry.
Last year, Boracay Island was on the top spot followed by Cebu, while Palawan placed fourth.
“The Philippines is indeed blessed with the best of nature, as exhibited by the consecutive accolades we are receiving from reputable and prestigious publications for our islands and beaches. This latest citation from CNT gives us in the Department of Tourism (DOT) a boost of confidence, as we continuously carry out our strategies to gradually reopen domestic tourism, to once again welcome travelers from other countries when things become better,” said DOT secretary Bernadette Romulo Puyat in a statement.
Meanwhile, three resorts in El Nido were also named as among the best in Asia. The CNT Readers'Choice Awards also listed down the Top 30 Resorts in Asia.
EL Nido Resorts Apulit Island landed on the 18th spot while El Nido Resorts' two other reorts, Lagen Island and Pangalusian Island placed 23rd and 25th respectively. The resort group announced the latest accolade on their Facebook page.
EL Nido Resorts is known for their exclusive and luxurious island resorts and is a favorite among celebrities. Kapuso actress Janine Gutierrez was recently spotted in El Nido, on a vacation with her siblings at El Nido Resorts Miniloc Island.
