The 2020 Global Law and Order Survey by US company, Gallup, has placed the country on the 12th spot with a law and order index score of 84.

The Philippines is tied with Australia, New Zealand, Poland, and Serbia.

The ranking was based on the answers of nearly 175,000 adults in 144 countries and areas in 2019.

There were four questions asked to the respondents:

  • In the city or area where you live, do you have confidence in the local police force?
  • Do you feel safe walking alone at night in the city or area where you live?
  • Within the last 12 months, have you had money or property stolen from you or another household member?
  • Within the past 12 months, have you been assaulted or mugged?

The survey was carried out by telephone and face-to-face interviews with respondents aged 15 years old and older.

Singapore and Turkmenistan topped the list after garnering a global index score of 97.

Trailing behind the top spot are China, Iceland, Kuwait, Norway, Austria, Switzerland, Uzbekistan, and the United Arab Emirates.

Occupying the bottom slots, meanwhile, are Venezuela, South Africa, Uganda, Sierra Leone, Botswana, Mexico, and Afghanistan.
