Derek Ramsay issues new statement over supercar controversy: 'I am not a smuggler'

Derek Ramsay released a statement regarding the supercar that has been flagged for having an allegedly fake license plate.
Derek made headlines after being involved in an ongoing investigation by the Land Transportation Office (LTO) concerning a Porsche 918 Spyder. According to a report from 24 Oras on Saturday, August 15, the actor's supercar is under scrutiny following the discovery of the alleged fake plate number.

On Monday, August 17, Derek and his friend went to the Land Transportation Office (LTO) headquarters to surrender the actor's supercar, which was allegedly carrying a fake plate.
On August 22, Derek shared a statement on his Instagram account.
"I am not a smuggler, nor did I import this vehicle into the country. I have never imported any vehicle into the Philippines."
Derek stated that he purchased the supercar from Jhon Lee using his own funds and believed the documents were legally registered.
"I purchased this car four years ago from JHONLEE of JWORKS using my hard-earned money. At the time of purchase, I was informed that the vehicle was tax-paid. The vehicle was subsequently registered with the LTO, and the registration and plates were issued under my name.
I have no idea why this issue is now happening. I want to reiterate that I purchased the vehicle in good faith and believed that everything was properly documented and legally registered."

Derek continued his statement by saying that he is cooperating to resolve this issue.
"I have already cooperated with the LTO regarding the issue involving the plates, and I will also fully cooperate with the Bureau of Customs (BOC) regarding this new matter.
"I respectfully maintain that I had no involvement in the importation, taxation, or registration of this vehicle beyond purchasing it in good faith from JWorks. I sincerely hope that JWorks will provide an explanation and take the necessary steps to clarify and resolve this matter.
"I am willing to provide any documents or information in my possession and cooperate with the authorities as necessary to establish the facts."
