On July 11, 2022, veteran stand-up comedian, actor, and director Phillip Lazaro died due to heart failure.

Starting as a stand-up comedian in The Library, a comedy bar in Malate, Manila, Direk Phillip continued to pursue his passion in television.

He started as TV actor in the Kapuso series 'Villa Quintana' in 1995, after spending two years in a Singapore comedy bar as a stand-up comedian.

Later on, he also tried directing variety shows and TV series. His recent works include GMA Afternoon Prime series 'Prima Donnas' and 'Nagbabagang Luha' and GMA Telebabad's 'Widows' Web.'
