Paolo Contis's transition from being a child star to versatile actor

Kapuso actor Paolo Contis has been active in Philippine showbiz for the past three decades.

He started his career at eight years old when he became part of the youth-oriented comedy variety show 'Ang TV.'

As he grew older, Paolo transitioned from being a child star to a matinee idol when he portrayed the role of Salvador "Badong" Magtibay in 'Tabing Ilog.'

In 2004, Paolo transferred to GMA as he ventured into more mature roles and proved his versatility as an actor.

Paolo joined 'Bubble Gang' the following year, and since then has become a mainstay of the longest comedy show in the Philippines.

At the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Paolo got the monicker 'Pandemic Superstar' after two of his movies, 'Through Night and Day' and 'Ang Pangarap Kong Holdap' topped Netflix Philippines' hit list.

"At the end of 2020, 'Through Night and Day' became Netflix Philippines' top Filipino film while 'Ang Pangarap Kong Holdap' was Netflix Philippines' top comedy movie."

"As an actor, syempre ayaw kong mapako sa isang genre," Paolo expressed when asked about being a dramatic actor and a comedian.

"Happy ako na isa ako sa konting artista na nagagawang magpatawa at magpaiyak ng mga tao."

Indeed, Paolo is one of the few celebrities who can make the public laugh and cry at the same time.

Take a look at his transition from being a child star to matinee idol to the versatile actor that he is today.
