On Pantone's website, they expounded on why they chose Illuminating of Pantone 13-0647 as one of the colors of the year 2021.
According to Pantone, Illuminating symbolizes strength and positivity.

“PANTONE 13-0647 Illuminating is a bright and cheerful yellow sparkling with vivacity, a warming yellow shade imbued with solar power.”
It may be challenging to shop for clothes and accessories that are in the exact same shade as Pantone's colors of the year, but there's definitely a workaround for it.
If you're planning on updating your wardrobe with items in the same color as Pantone's “Illuminating” but can't find clothes and accessories with the exact shade, you can simply opt for ones that look close enough or are in a similar shade of yellow.
