Kaye Abad reveals breast cancer journey, now cancer-free

Filipina actress Kaye Abad celebrates her birthday with hope and strength, sharing her inspiring journey of overcoming a major health scare.
In her latest vlog, Kaye candidly gave netizens a glimpse into her difficult year-long battle with breast cancer.
Her story began in 2024 when she decided to undergo a check-up after experiencing severe stomach pain.
“Last September (2024), sumasakit 'yung tiyan ko. So I thought normal na hyperacidity attack ko. But then, na-alarm ako kasi it would last six hours,” she shared.
Kaye later underwent a full stomach ultrasound, which revealed multiple gallstones. After surgery to remove them, her doctor advised her to get a mammogram due to her age.
Following the X-ray, doctors discovered that she had breast cancer with a 95% malignancy reading.
"I didn't know what treatments I would go through, how hard the journey would be, or if I would even survive it. For one year, ang daming moments of fear, uncertainties, pain. But also so much faith, hope, and love that carried me through," the actress opened up.
Kaye admitted that everything since then had been an emotional roller coaster filled with breakdowns, fear, and prayers for hope. She also became emotional while breaking the news to her family, especially her husband, Paul Jake Castillo.
Yet with strength and love, the actress chose to fight cancer with her husband by her side.
“We decided to do all the test and procedure sa Singapore,” Paul said.
“One of the hardest parts sa journey ko, saying goodbye to my boys before going to Singapore,” Kaye wrote as they prepared to go abroad.
“Ang hirap magpaalam na wala kang idea kung kalian ka babalik,” she added.
The vlog also documented Kaye's cancer battle in Singapore, where she underwent treatments, tests, and consultations. Her husband remained supportive throughout the journey, along with family and friends, including Paolo Contis, who joined her during some moments.
After a year marked by hardship and courage, Kaye finally received the news she had been praying for.
"As of now, you can declare that you're a survivor and you're cancer-free,” Kaye said while reading her doctor's message.
“I've been waiting for this day,” she added tearfully.
Kaye's vlog comes after her previous post about contracting herpangina, a painful viral infection that made eating difficult. She also had to isolate due to symptoms including fever, joint pain, and mouth sores.
Meanwhile, Kaye enjoys her life as a wife and mom of two boys in their house in Cebu.
